Rihanna & Monica Co-Sign Yung Miami’s ‘Spend Dat’

Rihanna and Monica are supporting Yung Miami as she relishes in the success of her new single, “Spend Dat.” Source: Raymond Hall / Prince Williams Many artists, including India.Arie and Keri Hilson have weighed in on the rapper’s new track “Spend Dat,” with many upset over the song’s messaging. Its lyrics aren’t exactly politically correct, featuring numerous references to scamming and “boostin’”—a slang term commonly used to describe shoplifting. But, as backlash continues to roll in from certain artists, others have taken kindly to the song. Monica played it during her set at Essence Fest in New Orleans over the weekend, using it as an opportunity to not only hype up the crowd but also a fellow artist. After seeing Monica jamming to her track, Yung Miami was clearly honored, posting about just how much the moment meant to her. “Ahhhh…. This is what an OG look like!!!” she captioned her post, sharing Monica and her dancers getting down to the song. “Thank you @monicadenise for hitting that s**t one time and showing ya girl some LOVE. We can celebrate each other’s wins and just have a good time! This is sisterhood this is black excellence!! Thank you Monica you’ve truly always been a REAL ONE & stay embracing and pouring into the girls! A ICON, A LEGEND ” Monica replied to her in the comments, writing, “I Love You @yungmiami305 Support & Sisterhood is my stance always So much love for you and your family !” And Monica isn’t the only one making sure Miami sees her support. Rihanna recently filmed a video with Hollywood Unlocked’s Jason Lee, where she went grocery shopping in Los Angeles. While she was in her car, she heard a young woman blasting “Spend Dat,” and she just had to FaceTime Young Miami to show her how much people are loving her song. When the woman in the car turned the song off, Rih yelled, “Yo, turn that s**t back on!” before singing along to the chorus. “B***h not Rihanna and Jason Lee called me mid melt while my wig was off singing spend Dat B***h!!!!!!!!! Mid Melt b***h!!,” Miami wrote in her caption as she posted a video of the moment. As “Spend Dat” continues to climb the charts, fans just wanna know when a remix will hit the airwaves. While talking to Complex’s Jillian Superstar about the remix at the BET Awards 2026 on June 28, Miami revealed there’s one artist she has in mind for the song. “You gotta stay tuned for that, but I really want Drake,” Yung Miami said. “Champagne Papi. You know we gotta call Drake. Iceman. I want Iceman!” She went on to joke that Drake needs to “pick up the phone.” The post ‘Boosting’ Blessings: Rihanna & Monica Co-Sign Yung Miami’s ‘Spend Dat’ Amid Viral Backlash–‘Turn That S*** Back On!’ appeared first on Bossip.

Monaleo Details Near-Fatal Health Scare

Monaleo is getting candid about the health hardship that nearly cost her life. Looking back on a tumultuous year, the 25-year-old rapper revealed that complications from Polycystic ovary syndrome resulted in emergency surgery in the loss of an ovary and a Fallopian tube, forcing her to exit the final leg of her Who Did the Body? Tour. “really be sitting back like damn i really could’ve died this year,” she said in a post on X. “i really had to yell in agony for that hospital to take me serious. i really sat with an ovarian torsion for over 12 hours . i really lost half my reproductive system at 24 . and could lose the other half . so many complications. so many hormone changes. i don’t even feel like myself . i’m blessed don’t mean to sound ungrateful but today is hard . i feel tired . hope any other person struggling with pmos/pcos is getting the help they need. you are not alone on your journey. hugs from your cyster.” The “Putting Ya Dine” rapper has been transparent about her struggles in the hope that more women understand the seriousness of checking in with their reproductive health. And while her story ended relatively well, the medical industry still has a long road to travel to properly diagnose, treat, and prevent grave complications from PCOS. This isn’t the first time Monaleo has used her platform to educate and inspire. In 2023, she started the ” Stay One More Day” foundation, an organization that seeks to destigmatize conversations about mental health. After sharing her own struggles with suicidal ideation and how she pulled herself out of deep depression, Monaleo has taken every opportunity to help others understand that the light will peek through the darkness again. In 2025, Monaleo tied the knot with rapper Stunna in a now-viral “everything pinka” ceremony. The pair also welcomed a child in 2024. Sending good vibes to our girl, Monaleo! Notable Artists Who Have Publicly Opposed A.I. Music

Artificial intelligence has been creeping into music over the last few years, and at first, many people didn’t know exactly what to make of it. Was it a new tool? A shortcut? A threat? A gimmick? Depending on who you asked, AI music either sounded like the future or like the beginning of a major creative problem. Lately, though, more artists have made it clear where they stand: they are not rocking with AI being used to copy voices, train models on their catalogs without permission or flood streaming platforms with music that sounds like it came from human artists but didn’t. The issue got even louder after SZA recently called out AI music after learning that hundreds of her songs were reportedly included in training data used to generate AI music models. According to reports, SZA urged Black artists not to hand over their creativity to AI and criticized the way Black musicians, writers and producers can be mined for influence without proper consent, credit or compensation. Her comments also brought Diplo into the conversation, with SZA reportedly calling him out for his connection to Suno, one of the AI music companies at the center of the larger debate. Whether it’s a superstar’s voice being cloned, unreleased work allegedly showing up in datasets or producers worrying their sound could be scraped and recycled, the fear is the same: AI can take years of style, pain, training, tone and cultural influence, then spit it back out with none of the human life attached to it. That’s why Timbaland’s recent AI push is such an important part of this conversation, too. The legendary producer has been publicly experimenting with AI music and even introduced an AI artist through his Stage Zero company, but he also faced backlash after allegedly using producer K Fresh’s work in an AI demo without proper permission. Timbaland later apologized, saying he believed the song was fully owned by the artist who sent it to him, but the controversy became a perfect example of what artists are worried about: once a song goes into the machine, who controls what happens next? The backlash isn’t coming just from one corner of the industry, either. In 2024, more than 200 artists, songwriters and music figures signed an Artists Rights Alliance open letter calling on AI developers, tech companies and digital music platforms to stop using AI in ways that infringe on or devalue human artists. The letter acknowledged that AI could have creative uses when handled responsibly, but warned against training models on artists’ work without permission, which could replace human artistry and dilute royalty pools. That’s the bigger picture behind SZA’s comments. This isn’t just artists being scared of new technology. It’s artists asking who benefits when their voices, likenesses, styles and catalogs become raw material for companies they never agreed to work with. Here are some notable artists who have publicly pushed back against AI music or signed onto efforts calling for stronger protections. SZA has become one of the loudest recent voices against AI music after discovering that hundreds of her songs were reportedly tied to AI training data. Her stance is especially focused on protecting Black artists, writers and producers from having their creativity extracted, repackaged and monetized without consent. Isaac Yowman’s ‘Sincerely Brad’ Premieres July 4 On Roku

The United States is celebrating its 250th anniversary on Saturday (July 4), and for Black people, it’s a time wrought with mixed emotions regarding race and their connectivity to a nation they’ve helped build with blood, sweat, and tears. Which makes it all the more fitting that a film depicting those complexities set in a not-too-distant future, Sincerely Brad, will premiere on the Roku Channel on the nation’s birthday. Sincerely Brad follows a Black astronaut (played by the Emmy Award-nominated actor Patrick Walker) who has been tasked with leading a mission to the moon. It’s a mission that could be the key to saving humanity as we know it. But the decision comes in conflict with his duty to his wife Zoey (played by Cinthya Carmona, best known for her role in Greenhouse Academy) as well as the weight of his personal ambitions and family legacy. Adding to that tension is the riskiness of the mission and a looming family event. For Brad, the choice he will make is direct: love…or legacy? The film also stars veteran actors Carl Anthony Payne II (The Cosby Show, Martin) and Veronika Dash (CSI, iCarly, Cadillac Records) to supplement the cast in this exploration of the modern issues that still dominate the U.S. conversation with regards to race, legacy, and seeking promise in the future. Sincerely Brad is the brainchild of Issac Yowman, a veteran filmmaker who has directed projects for Netflix, Marvel, Nike, the NBA, Pepsi, and McDonald’s, among others, and serves as the director of the film. The NAACP Image Award nominee also has been nominated for a Grammy Award for his production work with superstars such as Beyoncé, Megan Thee Stallion, and SZA. SEE ALSO: Travis Scott Joins Isaac Yowman As Executive Producer For DJ Screw Biopic In an interview with the Defender Network, Yowman spoke of the importance of depicting Brad as a multi-faceted figure to fight against the expected cinematic tropes. “Audiences want to see Black people living full, complex lives, not just crime or trauma stories,” he said. “Brad is a Black astronaut, a husband, a son. That’s powerful to see on screen.” Sincerely Brad will premiere on The Roku Channel on July 4. Check out the trailer above. ‘The Black Watch’ Talks ‘The Chi’s’ Farewell Season

The Chi has officially returned for its eighth and final season, and Lena Waithe’s deliciously diabolical southside series isn’t holding back. The latest episode of BOSSIP and CASSIUS’ editorial series The Black Watch unpacked the opening chapters of the Showtime drama’s farewell season before shifting gears to review RZA’s revenge thriller One Spoon of Chocolate. Joining BOSSIP Managing Editor Dani Canada were executive producer Serita Wesley, iONE Digital Director of Content for the Men’s Division Alvin Blanco, and comedian-writer Richard Jones for a lively discussion about love triangles, looming deaths, and the legacy of one of television’s most enduring Black dramas. Season 8 picks up with Emmett, Keisha, Victor, Tiff, Bakari, Papa, and the rest of the South Side crew navigating shifting alliances, mounting danger, and increasingly complicated relationships. While the panel agreed the premiere delivered plenty of drama, they couldn’t help but laugh at just how intertwined everyone’s lives have become. Richard joked before comparing the show’s ever-growing web of romances to square dance partners. Dani also compared the shocking series to the soap opera, Beyond The Gates. One character who drew plenty of conversation was Nuck, whose complicated history with several of the show’s central characters has made him one of the season’s biggest wild cards. This season, Nuck is dating Tiffany despite killing her boyfriend, Rob, and having her mother-figure, Alicia, killed for the murder of Douda, someone else he killed. “Nuck is an awful human being,” Dani said about the character played by Cortez Smith. “Looks great. Awful human being.” Despite his charm, the panel agreed his actions over the years have left a trail of destruction that may finally catch up with him before the series concludes. Several predicted Tiff could be the one to kill him, while Serita floated the idea of Papa abandoning his moral compass and embracing the streets after years of trying to remain holy. Beyond the relationship drama, the conversation also turned to what has made The Chi resonate for nearly a decade. Dani praised Lena’s continued exploration of masculinity, queerness, community, and chosen family, pointing to Victor’s emotional prison visit with his former girlfriend, a transwoman, as one example of the show’s nuanced storytelling. By the end of the discussion, the panel agreed they were fully invested in seeing how the story ends. The episode’s second half shifted from Chicago to small-town Ohio as the panel reviewed RZA’s One Spoon of Chocolate, the revenge thriller starring Shameik Moore and presented by Quentin Tarantino. While opinions were mixed, the group praised Shameik’s committed performance and several of the film’s revenge sequences, even as they questioned its lengthy runtime and heavy-handed social commentary. “It was definitely spaghetti Western,” Richard said, while Alvin argued the film “could have been 30 minutes shorter.” Dani agreed that the film delivered some satisfying moments, particularly when Shameik’s character finally turned the tables on the town’s racist antagonists, but acknowledged the movie’s ambitious themes occasionally overwhelmed its storytelling. Tyler Perry & Taraji P. Henson Preview ‘Why Did I Get Married Again?’

Grab your passports and prepare for another round of drama, laughs, and Angela & Marcus messiness because Tyler Perry is officially bringing back one of his most beloved franchises. Source: Courtesy / Netflix This time, the couples are trading snowy Colorado cabins for the stunning backdrop of Lake Como, Italy. Check out first look photos of Why Did I Get Married Again? as Perry and Taraji P. Henson spill the tea about the sequel. According to Netflix, Why Did I Get Married Again? premieres September 9 and reunites fan favorites Perry, Jill Scott, Richard T. Jones, Tasha Smith, Michael Jai White, Lamman Rucker, and Sharon Leal. Joining the franchise is Henson, whose addition is already giving the sequel even more star power. Source: Courtesy / Netflix The new film centers around the wedding of Marcus and Angela’s daughter. What starts as a celebration quickly becomes an opportunity for old friends to reconnect, reflect on their marriages, and realize that their children may be repeating some of the same relationship patterns they once navigated themselves. Speaking with PEOPLE about the film, Taraji said revisiting these characters nearly two decades after the original film felt surprisingly natural. “It felt like putting on a warm robe,” Perry shared. “It lent itself to realizing where we all are in life.” He also noted that both the cast and the characters have experienced real-life growth since audiences first met them. As for Henson, she is stepping into the franchise as Roselyn — a successful businesswoman whose son happens to be the groom. While she arrives in Italy to celebrate, Perry hints that every guest is carrying a little emotional baggage. Henson teased that viewers should expect more than just beautiful scenery. “I don’t want to give too much away, but who doesn’t love a destination wedding that brings together old and new friends?” she told People. She also revealed that filming alongside Tasha Smith made the experience even sweeter, joking that the pair “almost had too much fun.” Perry had nothing but praise for his longtime collaborator. “Taraji is just a joy to work with,” he said. “She is just a good person, has a good soul and a good heart. I love working with those types of people and will continue to work with Taraji as long as she wants to work with me.” In true Tyler Perry fashion, expect heartfelt conversations, complicated marriages, family secrets, and plenty of moments that will have viewers laughing one minute and clutching their pearls the next. If the original films taught us anything, it is that love is never simple, and neither are the people trying to hold on to it. For fans who need a refresher before the sequel drops, Why Did I Get Married? and Why Did I Get Married Too? will also begin streaming on Netflix in the United States on July 3. Donald Trump Tries Trolling Former President Only To Find Himself Flamed

Sometimes is best to let sleeping dogs lie unless you’re ready to get bit. Donald Trump is absolutely obsessed with having President Barack Obama’s name in his mouth. Nothing makes him happier than comparing his size with that of the big Black former commander-n-chief. BOSSIP recently reported on Trump’s incessant infatuation via Obama’s appearance on Matt Barnes and Stephen Jackson’s All The Smoke podcast where he quipped that he was living in “a suite” inside the MAGA administrator’s brain. Trump, being Stan-like in his preoccupation with his predecessor, undoubtedly heard Obama’s comments and took to Truth Social to post what be probably thought was a really clever troll. The problem is that not only is Donald Trump, nor his calvary of cronies, particularly clever, they are too stupid to see just how easy it is for social media users, who are infinitely more clever than anyone in the White House, to drop a reverse Uno card and use this post to deep-fry and fricassee the orange führer. Trump will always be an easy target to get jokes off but he is assisting the internet get buckets at his expense like Steve Nash. Like…he HAD to know that a meme like that was going to open him up to…this. Slam dunk, layup, OG Anunoby tip-in, Twitter in 5. Say what you will, but sometimes low hanging fruit is just a nourishing to the agenda as the ripest piece on the tree. B-b-b-but wait, it gets worse! Donald Trump’s neice and perhaps his number 1 hater hit him with a mean “well, actually…” about the facts of his Obama troll post. It’s glorious. Rev. Al Sharpton appeared on MS NOW to offer his analysis on Trump’s fraught fixation on President Obama. “[Obama] was better educated, better background in terms of coming from nothing and achieving something,” Sharpton continued. “And he’s Black.” He continued. “If it’s a glee club contest and one choir wins over another, he’ll mention Obama,” the “Politics Nation” host said of Trump on Sunday. “I mean, there’s some obsession there.” Sharpton also made it clear that this “tit-for-tat” is really just a tit because President Obama ain’t thinking about that man in public or behind closed doors. “[Obama] just opened his library and I was there,” he told Witt. “He doesn’t even talk about Trump in private. I’ve been around President Obama for the last several years, on many occasions — even social occasions, sometimes. I’ve never heard him say anything about Trump, but Trump must find a way to attack Obama.” Being an octogenarian hater has to be bad for your health. Trump should get that checked out, or not… The post Obama Derangement Syndrome: Donald Trump Tries Trolling Former President Only To Find Himself Flamed appeared first on Bossip.

Porsha Williams Teases An ‘Insane’ ‘RHUGT With Destination Drama

Porsha Williams is teasing plenty of surprises for The Real Housewives universe, and it sounds like fans should buckle up for not only the cross-country clashes, but NeNe Leakes. The #RHOA veteran revealed that viewers are in for an unforgettable ride when The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th premieres on August 9, celebrating two decades of Bravo’s iconic franchise with an epic cross-country adventure. While speaking with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet at the 2026 BET Awards alongside her new girlfriend, Patrice “Sway” McKinney, Williams shared what fans could expect. “I just wrapped up the reunion,” Williams said of the latest season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta, before turning her attention to the highly anticipated anniversary special. “It’s gonna be crazy. When I tell you the 20th anniversary of the entire franchise of ‘Real Housewives’ is gonna be insane,” she revealed. “It’s pretty iconic.” Porsha Williams says the cast was surprised when NeNe Leakes made a special guest appearance on the upcoming series. The special follows Housewives from across the franchise as they travel through several different cities on a road trip packed with laughs, drama, and plenty of unexpected moments. But according to Williams, one of the biggest surprises comes when production makes a stop in Atlanta. As previously reported, NeNe Leakes is returning to Bravo for the first time in six years following her departure from The Real Housewives of Atlanta. The fan favorite makes a special guest appearance on The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th, and Williams says the cast had no idea it was happening. Although reports surfaced that Leakes would appear, Williams told Entertainment Tonight the Housewives themselves didn’t know until Leakes unexpectedly arrived on set. “So, you’re gonna see all of that excitement and craziness,” she revealed. In addition to Porsha Williams, the core cast consists of Vicki Gunvalson, Luann de Lesseps, Teresa Giudice, Kyle Richards, Gizelle Bryant, and Lisa Barlow. Fans can expect some drama, too. While many fans may assume the biggest fireworks come from the main cast traveling together, Williams hinted that some of the most memorable drama comes from elsewhere. After initially expecting “most of the drama” to come from the principal cast members visiting nine cities together, Williams said it was actually the roughly 80 Housewives involved throughout the special who “are really having the drama.” She also teased that several franchises bring plenty of memorable moments, saying, “You’re gonna see ‘Salt Lake,’ you’re gonna see ‘Beverly Hills,’ when I tell you ‘Orange County’ is probably the craziest.” Williams admitted she never expected The Real Housewives of Orange County crew to steal the spotlight, but said one party during that leg of the trip was so over-the-top it literally left her recovering from hearing issues. “Like I couldn’t even hear, so I had to take a day to get to Beverly Hills to prepare,” she recalled. Patrice “Sway” McKinney also spoke about how “amazing” she felt to be attending the 2026 BET Awards with Porsha. The red carpet interview wasn’t all Housewives gossip, though. McKinney also enjoyed a sweet moment in the spotlight as she made her red carpet debut alongside Williams. Asked how it felt to step out publicly with the reality star, McKinney said she felt “amazing” and couldn’t help but gush over her girlfriend, calling Williams “the most beautiful woman in the world.” With a surprise Bravo return, cross-country chaos and enough Housewives to keep the drama flowing in every city, Williams’ latest tease suggests The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Roaring 20th may be one of the franchise’s biggest celebrations yet. Lizzo Reflects On ‘Soul Crushing’ Album Sales

Lizzo is navigating some changes in her career after her new album, Bi**h, failed to chart on the Billboard 200. During a new interview with Zachary Hourihane, the singer opened up about her experience dropping her latest album–which wasn’t as successful as she’d hoped. On June 5, Lizzo released Bi**h, her first album in four years. Sadly, the record did not chart on the Billboard 200 albums chart, a surprising turn of events following her No. 2 record in 2022. In her conversation with Hourihane on June 28, Lizzo admitted that her numbers this time around were “soul-crushing,” speaking candidly about the disappointment surrounding her surprising decline. “I was so excited ‘cause I met my pre-save goal, and then it dropped and I was like, ‘Oh okay, this isn’t what I thought it would kind of be,’” she began. “I think that there was like, 24 hours of my life where I based my success and my worth on a number. And I think that was soul-crushing.” In the first week of its release, the album sold approximately 3,000 total units, and that number dropped to 650 in the second week, per Rolling Stone. According to Lizzo, she’d been writing the album since September 2023, and remained confident that the songs she was putting out would resonate with her audience. When the new record failed to find its footing, Lizzo said she “hurt my own feelings.” “I was really stressed and I was really sad for a few days because I just was like, ‘Wait a minute. This is like, some of my best stuff,’” she admitted. “And I had to come to terms with the fact that not only is the music industry different in the last three years… but also my relationship and my connection musically with the world is different. And I think I had to kind of mourn that.” The Grammy winner also touched on the “obsessive focus on them flopping that women get” when new releases don’t reach the success of past output. “Even that is backhanded in itself, to name it after this extremely phenomenal… this extremely talented incredible pillar in the Black community and in Black rap music,” Lizzo said, referencing the titular Khia Asylum artist, Khia. She called the term a “weapon that targets only women, and a lot of Black women. Let’s be real,” “I think it’s just funny for people, and I think it should remain funny, it should remain a meme,” she continued. “Now it’s evolved to a thing where somebody could be the most successful artist last year, and now they’re back in the Khia Asylum?” The Grammy winner added that she “can’t be in the Khia Asylum” because she has “Grammys and world-record music.” “I am a successful artist,” Lizzo stressed. “Save that for the one-hit wonders. No shade!” The artist also expressed how grateful she is for her friendship with SZA, saying that a phone call from her eventually helped give her a new outlook. “SZA called me. She was like, ‘Hey, you’re on my mind.’ And I was like, ‘Am I failure?’ And she was like, ‘Oh my God, no.’ She’s so sweet,” Lizzo said. “I meditated and I prayed on it and I was like, ‘This is why I don’t judge myself and my success or my impact on numbers. This is why I don’t do that, because it’s soul-crushing if you do… I had to reframe and be like, but aren’t you proud of yourself? And I was like, ‘Yeah, I actually am proud of myself.’” Now, Lizzo said she reminds herself on a “daily basis” that numerical shortcomings are “not personal,” and instead display a bigger issue within the music industry as a whole.
